Our Mission

Tembo aspires to bolster our clients strength & power with supreme support and knowledge from a certified personal trainer & certified nutrition coach. We put our clients goals and needs first by keeping them engaged, educated, and entertained in every interaction.

What Does Tembo Mean?

Tembo is “elephant” in Swahili. Elephants, in the African culture, are a symbolism of strength and power. They are highly praised for their stamina, loyalty, mental faculties, and much more. 

Meet the Owner

AJ is the name, personal training is the passion. My little family consists of my wife, 1yr old son, 2 dogs & a cat! I played sports all my life; basketball, volleyball, track & field, and football. I like a nice day with the doors and top off the Jeep, coffee, and a good bourbon, neat! I have been providing personal training services for over 13yrs. I also have my MBA in Finance (personal trainer and financial analyst/accountant - unheard of, I know)! I am currently NASM-CPT certified and actively pursuing my NASM-CNC certification. My clientele has included an array of wonderful individuals, from student athletes to individuals just wanting to be held accountable. Helping people become stronger physically and mentally through their health & fitness is what it’s all about for me!

You may find humor on our website, but at Tembo we take your fitness goals seriously. We know and understand that health & fitness can be challenging, and our goal is to help you overcome hurdles and reach your goals. First and foremost, we get to know you as a person in order to understand who you are and what you really need and want. Gaining this insight and building rapport with you allows us to create your individualized fitness plan.

Numerous years of experience, education, and success gives us the proficiency to create a plan that will help you reach your goals. Our plans include exercise and healthy, conscious eating to ensure you obtain the best results. We are your support system; we got your back! We will keep you on track, keep you motivated to reach your goals, reassess goals frequently, and attack any barriers that you face, TOGETHER!

It’s no secret that changing your way of life to adapt to better health & fitness habits is difficult. It is even possible to fail at times but if something isn’t working for you, we adjust. We want health & fitness to become a part of who you are in order to sustain healthy habits.
